Sinclair to Host REACH Conference

Dayton, Ohio — Sinclair Community College will hold its 12th annual REACH Across Dayton Studies Conference on Friday, February 25. In the Spirit of Friendship (En el esp?ritu de amistad) is the theme.

The conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the David H. Ponitz Sinclair Center, Building 12. The cost is $35 which includes refreshments, lunch and parking. A limited number of scholarships are available.

The conference program will explore traditional cultures and how cultural skills influence the academic world of teaching. Participants will learn how to use art to develop diversity and team building skills and how to strengthen communication skills in a multicultural community. The program will include sessions on body image issues among college students, culture in Africa and the Caribbean, Mexican life, the theatrical technique of Tableau, and a panel discussion on the topic of international migrations.

The morning activities will include a keynote address by artist Angelica Pozo. Pozo is a New York City native and Cuban and Puerto Rican artist. She will share her images, thoughts, and personal experiences of how ethnic and cultural background can play
