Chocola Lends Support to HomeOwnership

Submitted by Don Lambert of Elkhart Housing Partnership

Congressman Chris Chocola will be in Elkhart on April 17th to help launch a new Employer-Assisted Housing (EAH) initiative for local businesses. The event is being sponsored by the Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce, Fannie Mae, and Elkhart Housing Partnership. Representatives of Patriot Homes will be on hand to announce and discuss their new EAH program designed to open doors to homeownership for employees.

As part of its mission to tear down barriers for homeownership, Fannie Mae assists companies throughout the nation to design customized EAH programs that will enhance the recruitment and retention of valuable employees. Typically, EAH plans offer assistance in the form of grants, forgivable loans, matched savings programs, and homebuyer education. Depending on a company’s needs, EAH benefits can be simple to administer, low in cost to offer, and create a positive impact on a company’s bottom line.

Representatives of Elkhart Housing Partnership will also be available to share information on their comprehensive homebuyer education and counseling services that promote homeownership in Elkhart County.

You can help by encouraging your company’s Human Resources Department to attend the free event that is scheduled for 7:30am on Thursday, April 17th at the Cornerstone Athenian Ballroom located at 500 South Main Street in Elkhart. Breakfast will be served so please RSVP to (574) 524-7030 by Monday, April 14, 2003.
