HISPANIC RESIDENTS RECEIVE TOURISM AWARD

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association’s 15th annual ROSE Awards, presented by the Indianapolis Power & Light Company, saluted 79 hospitality honorees at the Indiana Convention Center on March 7.

ROSE Award honoree Pedro Rodriguez accepts his award from Mayor Bart Peterson. Many Hispanic residents were honored for their excellent service in the hospitality industry.


Waterford Elementary Scchool third grader Esteban Portillo pulls a nutrition bar from an emergency ready kit during a demonstration by Bethany Christian Schools sixth graders Poojah Patel and Cody Yoder. With a grant provided by the Elkhart Optimist Club and the American Red Cross, Bethany sixth graders prepared ready kits to be prepared in the event of an emergency such as a loss of power or natural disaster. The kit includes a mask, light stick, water, whistle, nutrition bar, personal contact information, and a picture of a family member or pet (for comfort). The sixth grade class shared what they have learned about being prepared for emergencies with Waterford third graders..
