El Buen Pastor Mennonite Church collected items for 5 relief kits to be sent to Haiti. The kits contained bath towels, bath and laundry soap, tooth paste and toothbrushes, combs, shampoo and other personal care items. The women also made 3 bed comforters to donate. Students in two Sunday School classes drew pictures and wrote messages of goodwill on the back of 2 of the comforters. All of these things were given to the Mennonite Central Committee for distribution in Haiti. Two offerings were taken and money received from the sale of scrap metal from the church’s old furnace will also be given to MCC to help with the ongoing relief work in Haiti.
The Center for Healing and Hope raised funds with a Fiesta Feast on Saturday, Feb. 20. A very large crowd of hungry people made it a huge success. So big, that regrettably some had to be turned away when the food was gone. Dinner music was provided by Daniel and Juan Moya. Board members for the Center enlisted the help of their various congregations to help with the location, food donation and preparation, decorations, and clean-up. It was worth all the hard work to see so many satisfied persons and know it was for a good cause.
