Dominguez and Pimentel to Anchor WIIH-Noticias a Las 11
Indianapolis- IN. Marco Dominguez and Carolina Pimentel co-anchor WIIH-Noticias a las 11, Indianas first and only all-Spanish television newscast.
Marco Dominguez came to Indiana in 1980 to study at Vincennes University, where he received his associate degree. He then followed that up with a bachelors degree from Butler University. Dominguez moved to Venezuela in 1984 and began his own production house. He also served as advisor/director for Flamingo TV in Bonaire. Dominguez returned to Indianapolis in 1993 to work on his masters degree at Butler University. In December of that same year, he received an offer from Butler University to produce for WTBU, the universitys television station. Dominguez eventually became Executive Producer for the station. He has become a pioneer in the field of bilingual communication, working in both radio at WAJC 104.5 FM and television at WTBU. Dominguez is an active member of the community in general.
Carolina Pimentel moved to Indianapolis in 1997 to study English at Butler University. Upon completion of this eight-month English course, she moved to Venezuela where she received her degree in business administration and marketing. Continuing with her studies, Pimentel returned to Indianapolis and received her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration/ management, in May 2000, from the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, Indianapolis. Upon graduating, Pimentel joined M. Nelson & Associates, Inc. as their marketing coordinator. In 2001, she joined the Indiana University National Center of Excellence in Womens Health as their bilingual outreach coordinator for the Breast and Cervical Cancer Program. Prior to joining WIIH-Univision For Indiana, Pimentel co-hosted Nuestra Musica a bilingual television program, on WTBU. Carolina and her husband Miles reside in Indianapolis.
WIIH-Noticias a las 11, half-hour local news broadcast, will air weeknights at 11PM on WIIH-Univision for Indiana, which can currently be seen over-the-air on Channel 17. Negociations are on-going for Channel 17 clearences on local Time Warner, Comcast and Insight cable systems.
