Latinos Voice Concerns to Ohio Legislature Dayton, Ohio Latino Community Representatives from the Miami Valley participated in the People of Color Advocacy Day organized by the Ohio Commission on Hispanic Latino Affairs (OCHLA) at the Statehouse in Columbus on March 16th, 2005. The meeting was part of OCHLA’s overall strategy to improve the quality of education for Hispanic youth, and to facilitate the communication between the growing Latino community and state elected officials. Sinclair Jazz Concert to Feature Trumpeter Dayton, Ohio Trumpet artist Bobby Shew will perform with the Sinclair Community College Jazz Ensemble in concert on Friday, April 15. Chicago Chicano poet Carlos Cumpián read at Goshen College March 21 GOSHEN, Ind. A Chicano writer working in English, Carlos Cumpián writes poetry that paints impassioned pictures of the Latino experience in the United States, giving an intimate yet universal look at the dissonance and divided experience of modern America. He brought his poetry to Goshen College on March 21 for a reading.
