FW PHILHARMONIC MASTERWORKS CONCERT FEATURES GUEST PIANIST OLGA KERN April 23 concert features Tchaikovskys Piano Concerto No. 1 The Fort Wayne Philharmonic Masterworks Series Concert on April 23 features Van Cliburn Competition winner Olga Kern, who will play Tchaikovskys Piano Concerto No. 1. The concert is scheduled for 8 p.m. at the historic Embassy Theatre and also will feature the Philharmonic performing works by Britten and Sibelius. The evenings complete repertoire is: Peter Grimes: Four Sea Interludes, by Britten, Symphony No. 1 in E Minor, opus 39, by Sibelius, and Tchaikovskys Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 1 in B-Flat Minor, opus 23. Ticket prices for Masterworks concerts range from $20 to $52, and are available at the Philharmonic Box Office, 2340 Fairfield Av., Fort Wayne, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 12 noon to 4 p.m. on concert Saturdays; by telephone at 260-456-2224; on-line at www.fortwaynephilharmonic.com (on-line orders pay NO SERVICE CHARGE); and at the Embassy Theatre box office beginning one hour prior to the concert. Special Student Rush Tickets are priced at just $5 and are available for students with valid identification at the Embassy box office one hour before the performance. Founded in 1944, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic has grown from a small civic orchestra composed of local musicians, to a full professional orchestra with 44 full-time and 19 part-time musicians. It now is the largest performing arts organization in northern Indiana. It plays a 38-week season of nearly 500 musical performances.
