First Summer Concert of the Elkhart Municipal Band

Despite earlier rain and still threatening skies, an enthusiastic crowd gathered for the first summer concert of the Elkhart Municipal Band at Elkhart McNaughton Park on Tuesday, June 3 at 8 pm.  Families, singles, couples young and old enjoyed big band, pops, jazz, and musical selections while seated on benches, blankets or lawn chairs.  Even some pets were present to soak up the melodic sounds.  The only sad note was the knowledge that the band had experienced the loss of their director, Paul Schultz, whose funeral had been that day.  A memorial concert for him will be given later in the summer.  These free concerts will continue every Tuesday at 8 pm through the second week of August at McNaughton Park in Elkhart.
