President Barack Obama nominated former U.S. Rep. Tim Roemer as ambassador to India, the White House said late Wednesday.

Hispanic Caucus Meets with Van Jones to Connect Hispanic Community to Green Jobs Movement

(Washington DC) -The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) met with Van Jones, who is the Special Advisor for Green Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation at the White House Council on Environmental Equality. The meeting’s purpose was to discuss how the Latino community could help move the new clean energy economy forward. The CHC wants to ensure that the Latino community becomes skilled for green jobs and that green jobs training programs are accessible to Latino communities—particularly the provisions in the Green Jobs Act and American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Community Exceeds Goal for Local Letter Carriers’ Food Drive

FORT WAYNE – Local residents stepped up to the challenge and collected 453,513 pounds of food for the 2009 Letter Carriers’ Food Drive. That number is 100,000 more pounds of food than last year.

Like every year El Puente presents the graduates from our region who march out of the school and into de world. On this issue we have graduates form Washington High School, Clay High Schhol, Memorial High School, Elkhart Central High School, Goshen High School and GED. On following issues we will have graduates from other area High Schools. Full of dreams and hopes, they are the generations that will step in to bring new ideas to our communities. The graduates form the picture are from Elkhart Central High School.
