Today is yesterday’s tomorrow and it’s tomorrow’s yesterday. Does it sound like a tongue twister? Maybe it does but it also gives us an opportunity to see how time affects us.
Today many of us spent the day trying to move towards our dreams and plans, only lately there is no clear sense of where to go. Because of the country’s financial problems there is no clear way to do anything any more.
For example, most people knew the rules for success. They sent their kids to school and taught them to follow the rules, graduate, go to college, look for a job, and start saving to buy a house, get married, and continue the cycle of success.
Somehow that routine has been broken and a new one has to be created, but where to begin? Which of the steps has to be omitted, re-drawn or just thrown away?
That’s where the time riddle becomes important.
If our plans are not being met, we don’t have to sit down and cry about them, because they have turned into our past, therefore they cannot be changed.
Can we affect our future? Maybe, but that is also uncertain.
Mathew 6: 34 says: Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
The lesson for today is to be relaxed enough to live the day and be thankful. Instead of “creating” so many plans for the future, maybe it is the time to count our blessings, and wait.
One of the most difficult things in faith is to pray and wait. There are different approaches to this. One is to pray, and pray again, and repeat the petition. But this is actually a way of saying: I know you haven’t heard me, so I have to try again and again without even waiting for a response. But when the cause is lost, after praying there is not much you can do, but wait and that’s when changes happen.
In my personal life I have faced health challenges lately and I have found that wishing or pushing is not the way to fast recovery. Time will help me just as time will help others to find new ways to face life.
I hope you are generous enough to give yourself time whether your challenge is financial, personal, medical or other. Time is on your side if you only give it time to work.
