Local Community Leader Serving on Board of Directors
Liliana Quintero is currently serving as a member of the Board of Directors, Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana. An Elkhart resident, Quintero is the Executive Director of the Hispanic/Latino Health Coalition of Elkhart County, (www.hlhcec.com) a nonprofit organization providing preventive healthcare programs for Hispanic children and families. Mayor Tom Henry is expanding his administration’s commitment to Fort Wayne’s growing Hispanic and immigrant communities with the hiring of a new Mayor’s advocate/Hispanic-immigrant liaison, Palermo Galindo. President Obama Nominates Latino Ambassadors to Mexico, Argentina and the Vatican The President has nominated Mr. Carlos Pascual to be the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico. Presently, Pascual is Vice President and Director of the Foreign Policy Program at the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC where he oversees applied research programs on Latin America, China, Asia, the Middle East and Europe. During his Foreign Service career, Pascual served as the Coordinator for Reconstruction and Stabilization at the State Department, as Coordinator for U.S. Assistance to Europe and Eurasia, and as U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine from 2000-2003. Washington – Senator Evan Bayh successfully amended a comprehensive energy bill this week that will send money directly to Indiana for renewable energy projects, electric drive vehicles and to lower the cost of Hoosier electric bills.
