People often speak about how college is a long, rigorous challenge, and I am sure it’s probably true. However, over the years I have proven to myself that I posses the commitment, desire, potential and determination to be academically successful.

Thanks to the Chicano Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, and in particular to the student activists of that generation who struggled to open the doors to these previously all white institutions, you are here tonight.
Several civil rights groups filed a lawsuit Thursday seeking to halt Georgia’s stringent new immigration law that would allow law enforcement to check the legal status of criminal suspects and force many businesses to do the same with potential employees.
