El Buen Pastor Mennonite Church enjoyed their annual retreat at Camp Friedenswald in Michigan on July 26 and 27. Saturday afternoon was time for swimming and visiting. There was singing around the campfire in the evening followed by popcorn and marshmallow toasting. Sunday morning worship was a shared service with Assembly Mennonite Church on the theme of breaking down walls in our community. While adults heard a several speakers the children make paper bag “bricks” with things that cause walls. After they built a wall, the younger children, wearing signs of things that break down walls of prejudice, enthusiastically knocked down the wall. After taking a group picture a delicious lunch was enjoyed followed by more swimming and visiting.
