Two minibuses loaded with 27 people; students, leaders, country coordinator and one senior citizen and one child, pull away from the curb in front of “Casa Verde”, the Goshen College house in Jinotepe. We are headed north to Sébaco and Estelí for a two day excursion to learn more about Nicaragua. We drive into foothills and through mountains until we enter the valley where Sébaco is located. Colombian Independence Day Celebrated in Fort Wayne
On July 18, a fiesta was held at Club NV on Parnell Avenue in Fort Wayne to celebrate the Colombian Independence Day. Arranged by local Colombian citizens, the event was festive and well-attended. Elena Dupen from Columbia City attended the Elkhart County 4-H Fair, where she showed how to do ‘Needle Felting’.
The Red Barn Walking Club held a non-competitive 3-mile family fun walk, that took take place Aug. 1. The walk started at 7 a.m. at the American Countryside Farmers Market, at 57919 C.R. 26, Elkhart, to benefit the Great Race for Literacy and The One Room School House organizations.
