IPFW to Hold Suicide Prevention Forum
FORT WAYNE, Ind.—”Extend a Hand: Preventing and Responding to Suicide” is the title of a day-long forum to be held Saturday, September 24, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Walb Student Union on the Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) campus.
The forum promises to be a day filled with education on preventing suicide, responding after a suicide, spirituality and mental health, and LGBTQ suicide. It will also focus on building connections with families and friends of those who have died by suicide and of instilling hope for the community.
Kevin Hines, who survived his own attempt at suicide when he jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, is the luncheon keynote speaker.
The forum is free and open to the public; however, an RSVP must be made to email@example.com for the lunch. The forum is sponsored by IPFW Behavioral Health and Family Studies Institute, Active Minds Student Organization, IPFW Center for Women and Returning Adults, Indiana Cares Youth Suicide Prevention Project, Parkview Behavioral Health, NAMI Fort Wayne, and Park Center.
