Indiana University professor Elinor Ostrom was awarded the Nobel Prize for Economics earlier today. Governor Daniels issued this statement about her achievement:
“Indiana’s reputation as a center for world-class research continues to ascend. Earlier this year, Purdue’s Dr. Gebisa Ejeta was named the World Food Prize Laureate and now Indiana University’s Dr. Elinor Ostrom has won the Nobel Prize for Economics.
“Dr. Ostrom has spent the past five decades in Bloomington garnering national notice for her exploration of the ability of communities to manage resources for the public good. On behalf of all Hoosiers, I congratulate her on this latest recognition in a distinguished career and take great pride in her outstanding achievement.”
