“Careers for the Future / Carreras para el Futuro”

INDIANAPOLIS, IN ­ The Indiana Latino Institute, Inc. (ILI) invites all students, especially Latino high school students, and their parents to an education fair for the 2008-2009 school year coordinated through its education initiative, “Careers for the Future.” The fair will be on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Arsenal Technical High School, 1500 E. Michigan St., Indianapolis, IN 46201 from 6:00m to 8:30pm in the school cafeteria. Admission is free.

The Indiana Latino institute, Inc has been conducting these fairs for two years as a part of a coordinated effort to help bridge the gap between high school and access to college supports for Latino students in obtaining post secondary education. ILI’s education fair will offer information on scholarship opportunities, college admissions process, summer internships, Indiana college representatives and volunteer opportunities. There will be a total of three Education Fairs during the 2008-2009 school year with a special presentation on different topics at each one. The featured presentation at this education fair will be on college readiness co- presented by Ivy Tech and La Plaza, Inc.

There will be opportunities for all high school seniors and college freshman who would like to participate in a paid summer internship for 2009 which eligibility requires that you register at this or at that final education fair, February 5, 2009 at North West High School. There will also be an opportunity for all high school seniors and college freshman and sophomores to apply for a scholarship at the college of their choice or current enrollment anywhere in the state of Indiana.
