Tolson Center for Community Excellence Announces Exciting Summer Events for 2024

The Tolson Center for Community Excellence is thrilled to announce a series of engaging and enriching summer events aimed at celebrating diversity, fostering community connections, and providing educational opportunities for all ages.

Summer Quest Summer Camp for Youth K-6th Grade
Tolson Summer Quest Camp offers an exciting and educational experience for children in kindergarten through 6th grade. Featuring a diverse range of activities, including arts and crafts, outdoor adventures, team-building exercises, and educational workshops, this camp promises to create lasting memories for young participants while promoting personal growth and skill development. The camp will run from June 10 to July 26th, providing children with a fun and enriching summer break.

Juneteenth Celebration – June 15, 2024, 11am-2pm
On June 15th, the Tolson Center will host a Juneteenth celebration to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. The event will feature music, dance performances, guest speakers and storytelling sessions that highlight the cultural significance of Juneteenth. Families and community members are invited to join us for a day of reflection, celebration, and unity. Hamburgers, hotdogs, Chips and Drink are provided free.

Taste of Africa – August 15, 2024, 12pm-5pm
Save the date for the Taste of Africa event on August 15th, where attendees can indulge in a culinary journey through the diverse and vibrant flavors of the African continent. This cultural festival will offer a unique opportunity to savor authentic African cuisine, enjoy live entertainment, participate in traditional art and craft demonstrations, and explore the rich cultural heritage of Africa.

Whether you’re seeking an enriching experience for your children, connecting with the community to celebrate an important historical moment, or looking to immerse yourself in the diverse and flavorful traditions of Africa, the Tolson Center’s summer events offer something for everyone.

All events will be held at the Tolson Center for Community Excellence, located at 1320 Benham Ave. Elkhart, IN 46516. These events are open to the public, free, and all community members are encouraged to join in the festivities.
