The Hispanic Heritage Festival brings together residents from Michiana to learn about Hispanic Heritage Month and enjoy cultural dances, music, food, and relationship building. This year’s festival features an expanded Kids Zone where different cultural activities will be available for children and families to learn about Hispanic Heritage Month and participate in various activities that celebrate Hispanic culture. Community Pro-Education is also partnering with Revolutionary Soccer Training to host the 1st World Cup Soccer tournament for children, teenagers, and adults.
At the festival attendees will have an opportunity to listen to various musical groups and be entertained by local folkloric dance groups. The festival will have over 80 vendors and 25 food vendors. Goshen College Mariachi Eco will perform various traditional mariachi songs. The festival will also feature local talent in the sport of boxing as more Latinx youth are enrolling in the sport. The festival will also allow attendees to view “charros” (horse riders) show their horse-riding skills and promenade in the Mexican Consulate’s “Cry for Freedom” (El Grito) ceremony. Community Pro-Education will recognize college scholarship recipients that are enrolled in college and are pursuing a higher education degree.
