Goodwill Offers Free Tax Preparation Through VITA Program
Goodwill Industries of Michiana, Inc. will again offer free tax preparation services to qualified individuals in 2025 through the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program. This volunteer-driven program provides free tax assistance from certified tax preparers to individuals and families, making it an essential resource for eligible taxpayers seeking tax preparation assistance without any cost.
Goodwill offers the VITA program through April 15, 2025, and is available to U.S. citizens or resident aliens. Individuals or families with a household annual income of $64,000 or less may qualify for the free federal program.
“We encourage those who meet the eligibility requirements to take advantage
of this free service to maximize their tax returns and credits. It helps people in our community save time and use their earnings for other expenses, such as childcare, food, transportation, or other needs,” noted Debie Coble, Goodwill’s president and chief executive officer. Coble continued, “The VITA program truly reflects Goodwill’s mission to empower individuals to live their most abundant lives.”
Services will be provided at seven locations across South Bend and Elkhart. For more information about eligibility, locations and to book an appointment, please contact Goodwill’s VITA program:
• Phone: (574) 800-1361
• .Website: Vita.Goodwill-NI.org
Please note that a limited number of appointments are available. While VITA volunteers are equipped to manage a variety of tax situations, there may be certain complex tax issues that fall outside the scope of the program.
