Goshen School Board approves referendum for new building Residents in the Goshen school district will have a chance in May to voice their views on a multimillion dollar solution to overcrowding issues across the district. The school board members unanimously approved a referendum for the construction of a new intermediate school at a special meeting on Tuesday morning in an effort to address overcrowding at the district’s nine schools. It will go on ballot for the upcoming May 8 primary election. Feedback indicated that the majority of residents preferred a 5-6, 7-8 building configuration instead of two grades 5-8 buildings. Enrollment at GCS has increased by 250 students since 2008. Pursuing a 5-6, 7-8 option, provides greater separation from older students from the younger students. The plan would also include adding more classrooms and space to Goshen High School. Felipe Merino, president of the school board ended the meeting thanking the public for sharing their feedback with the board.
