Editorial in English ORGANIZING WASHINGTON’S MIGRANT FARMWORKERS Four years ago, at the age of 13, Mikol Aaron Merino Aspinwall started his journey as a freshman at Goshen College. This was after he built his first computer at the age of 4 and helped his mother streamline her eBay business. After deciding that a military scholarship to Holy Cross College was not for him and that he did not want to work on a professor’s projects at Indiana University South Bend, Aspinwall was attracted to Goshen College’s invitation to be himself and to find his calling without undue expectations – even with his 185 IQ and ability to type 161 words per minute. While at Goshen College, Aspinwall re-activated the college’s E-sports team, managed websites for several local companies and created cyber security protocols for others. Challenged by the faculty on various social issues, he found his voice as a great communicator. Unlike some tech wizards, he can communicate complex ideas in layman’s terms. But beyond his personal development in college, Aspinwall continues to work remotely at Blink Labs, a start-up firm in Silicon Valley with which he has forged a partnership so that more GC computer science students will gain valuable work experience. He managed all this while doing his course work and working on his Uncle Felipe Merino’s campaign for the Goshen City Council. Committed to the cause of getting more young people involved in the local community, Aspinwall is working with a team of GC students to make the Riverbend Film Festival come to life with an application that they developed to help people more readily find events. Likewise, he has been working with the Goshen Historic Society to develop a walking tour application that includes Goshen’s historic points of interest downtown. Miriam Tovar surrounded by her family; husband, daughters, mom and supportive friends, at the end of the celebration of Latinx graduates in IUSB. Miriam graduated with a Major in Business and Accounting. She works in Intercambio Express. On the right, Isaac Torres, the owner and Executive Director of Intercambio Express and his wife Conchita also attended the event to support Miriam. While taking the memorable picture, Isaac Torres told us how brave Miriam is, always meeting her multiple responsibilities as a family member and as an employee.
