I am supposed to give an editorial today. That it I am to add more words to the millions of words already said. In this new information era, there is only a world full of words, sentences go back and forth either affirming or denying what has been said. We have been to the multi response to killings in the schools, and after a while we go through the same routine of placing stuff animals and flowers at the latest sight, showing the tears and the angry statements of people who do not want any more violence, but two or three months later, after the demonstrations, letter writing and calls have ended, everyone goes back to their own life, until the next time to be angry again ends up killing part of the soul. The creative response is lost in a sea of words and words, calling for the same demonstrations, letters and phone calls. We are becoming numb to tragedy, we are not responding to repression, nor are we finding ways to respond in a way that makes a change. After we participate in one or many of the usual responses, there is a sensation of emptiness, finding out that in this so call democratic republic, the voice of many is not heard, instead is only manipulated, in many occasions used as a bouncing board for political interests. The horror of inhumane immigrant family separations is the last and most clear way to see ourselves as part of a complot that does not take into consideration the lives of others, in this case children. We are hearing now all the voices answering in biblical and political statements. What is the next step? I have no words for this. I will not add any more words to the so many already said. I rather pray in silence, that makes so much noise of empty words.
