The gate opens Many wanted to be among the first in line for an event that would help thousands of young undocumented immigrants apply for work authorization and reprieve from deportation under a new Obama administration policy. Wednesday was the first day to apply. The event at Navy Pier, and others like it, ensured thousands would. By 1 p.m., organizers estimated that 13,000 people had come to Navy Pier for the event, making it the biggest deferred action gathering in the U.S. on Wednesday.
Volunteers at the NIHHC's Health Fair August 18th, 2012 In order to reach more people from different counties, the Northern Indiana Hispanic Health Coalition decided to do more than one big health fair since 2011. With more than one date available, community members have a better chance to attend at least one health fair and as a result benefit from these great events that have become a healthy annual routine. I am very proud to share the growth and accomplishments of the NIHHC because you as a volunteer, donor, exhibitor, and/or sponsor have been the reason for our success.
