Reverend Kevin M. Bauman, from Our Lady of Hungary Parish in South Bend, IN. The church not only celebrates a parish festival that includes Hungarian foods, but also includes Mexican celebrations like the ‘Virgen de Guadalupe’. Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels visited Our Lady of Hungary School in South Bend on Nov. 16 to see firsthand how the new state voucher program is being implemented, his first such visit since the vouchers went into effect this school yea.“Our Lady of Hungary happens to have the most voucher students in the South Bend area, so it seemed like a good choice, and it was,” Daniels told a hallway press conference after visiting five classrooms at the school. “Slow Money” is the name for a movement started by socially conscious investing pioneer and author, Woody Tasch, who essentially borrowed the conceptual framework of “Slow Food”—whereby participants eschew convenience-oriented “fast” foods, instead filling up their plates with traditional, unprocessed and, ideally, locally produced foods—and applied it to personal finance and investing. As such, Slow Money is dedicated to connecting investors to their local economies by marshaling financial resources to invest in small food enterprises and local food systems. Tasch started Slow Money in November 2008 after the publication of his book, Inquiries into the Nature of Slow Money: Investing as if Food, Farms and Fertility Mattered.
