Report: Indiana Needs to Step Up Anti-Tobacco Spending Nobel Peace Prize speech highlights contribution of Notre Dame’s Kroc Institute to process of ending war in Colombia December is prime time for finding college scholarships
On Saturday November 14th, fifteen Goshen Middle School students joined with 150 other performers in the Indiana North All-Region Orchestra held at Chesterton High School. Directors across the Northern half of the state nominated students for the ensemble and a state selection committee accepted these student for the performance. Students in each of the two ensembles prepared four to six pieces independently then came together for a day’s rehearsal before the concert that evening. This year’s All-Region Orchestra members from Goshen included: … Aysia Adkins, Jocsan Barahona Rosales, Alex Berkey, Emma Burgos, Ava Chupp, Emilee Edmonds, Denver Edwards, Christina Herrmann, Lauren Kauffman, Samantha Markham, Brenton Pham, Alexia Potter, Joshua Schrock, Calista Swartzendruber, and Reghan Yoder. Competition As more students find an interest in music composition and discover opportunities to highlight their work, so has the number of winning compositions increased. This year four students won their categories. Nathan Berkey won High School Orchestra for his composition “The Magistrate’s Arrival”, Sam Stoltzfus won Middle School Chamber for “Battle Shore”, Josh Schrock won Middle School Arranging for his arrangement of the “Theme from Fallout 4”, and Daniel Elizalde for Middle School Orchestra composing “Pluckish Dysphoria” which the 8th grade orchestra performed this fall.
